First Snow of the Season!

I wanted to take a few shots of the snow tonight and didn't know how they would come out. The picture above is flash and below is no flash. Amazing how much the snow reflects the light.

We only have the rope lighting out for Christmas in the Country weekend, the other strand of lights is on an old wooden sleigh Robin found at a garage sale, then up and around Kyle's seated sculpture. So those are temporary for the weekend. The twirly swag over the door will stay up, with lights, if Robin doesn't sell it. Robin was very busy again today, people really enjoy this tour.

Snow shots looking towards the barn.

I like how the barn looks as if it is lurking in the shadows, the big grey hulk. The camera was on a different setting for the last picture, I like the way the snowflakes are streaked. But to me it looks like they are streaking up from the ground, with a tail behind them. The first snow is always exciting, when my 8 year old and I were coming home from Grandma's house tonight, she said, "Dad is there this much snow at our house too?". Somehow everything is bigger and better at Grandma's, and that's O.K., shouldn't it be? She was my motivation behind these pictures, she helped me remember how special the first snow is. Just like one of the kids will help me remember how special it is to feel the grass under our feet when the snow is gone.
